- These missiles are better than anything the Forsaken have been able to come up with.
- Before the missile update in May 2014, they had better statistics than the Cutlass IV across the board: better DPS, slightly better range, no minimum range exclusion, lower weight, higher accuracy, and faster reload times.
- Cutlass IVs now have better DPS, the same maximum range, and the ability to scale down to lower weight classes to fully utilize available tonnage on a vessel.
- D53's are considered the ultimate missiles as combined with SFB3 and Laser Targeting 3, it's possible to create fleets that can be sent in to "Auto" level 40 salvages.
- D53-Z brand new missile added Aug. 2014 and available to win in T4 of the Weekly Mission
- They are also useful in "Sniping" bases to get access to the enemies warehouses/outposts without running the gauntlet of the defenses.
- Assault Missiles are one of the most used weapon for fleet battles.
- With Solid Fuel Booster 3, it has a range of 96 making it tied for the the longest ranged ship weapon in the game with Cutlass missiles.
- This allows you to take out most ships before they can even get in range.
- Just like Strike Missiles, it is used often for salvaging but also for taking out exposed guards or docks of other players bases.
- Not advised in a full scale base assault because of low building damage.
